Website Evaluation

1. Who was the intended audience for your website?
The intended audience for my website for teenagers who like meaningful films. It is intended to give them a message about being themselves and this is especially important when they are finding themselves.

2. What was the purpose of the website (e.g. entertainment, educational, commercial)?
The purpose if the website is to promote the film to this audience.

3. Did your site cover its topic/intended purpose? Why or why not?

Yes it did, the black and white colours are attractive to the audience and there is the right amount of information for the audience to find out about the film but not too much because then they wouldn't want to read it.

4. How have the audience and intended purpose influenced the content of your site (e.g. in terms of language, vocabulary, graphics, media, layout of pages and overall structure of the site)?

The language is basic yet sophisticated, the graphics are quite basic but the background is very appealing and emotional. The layout is the same for all of the pages, the consistency looks very clean and crisp.

5. Are headings and keywords consistent in terms of font type, colour, style and emphasis?

6. Are links logical and well-planned? How many clicks is one too many?

7. Is the colour scheme appropriate and aesthetically pleasing?

8. Have you considered an appropriate name for your film?

9. Do the elements of design evident in the site (e.g. balance, space, contrast etc) reflect the purpose or nature of the site? Are there visual clues to the intended purpose of the site? How would different colour schemes/textures/font styles change the message of the site?

10. How have the audience and purpose of the website affected decisions made in relation to:

a. Font/graphics ?
b. Page layout ?
c. Structure of the online resource?

GENESIS

After all the problems we had, Brydee and I made a story out the idea we remembered that Sarah had created. I spent a whole day filming this new film i had many difficulties with the mirrors in the bathroom and the lighting.

Skills, Techniques & Tricks
•I found a certain angle and some places where you could film in the mirror without being seen.

Process:
The process of making this movie has been very difficult. Because we had issues with our footage (the first time it was bad quality and the second time it wouldn't play) we had to re-film it in one day. Because our original movie took a few days to film, we had to do a new movie. So we came up with another idea for a movie and the filming process of this was very successful.

Time:
Because of the difficulties of the footage not working we spent a few weeks waiting to see if we could get it to work using a program. Because we couldn't get the program Brydee and I re-wrote a new story and i filmed it.

Changes:
I don't want to make any changes to our new movie. I think the story is really good, especially as we only had a short time to do it.

Restart:
If I could start again I would film a few more angles and shots but and i would probably cut out some more of the makeup scene and simplify the ending when she changes but I really happy with it especially considering we had less time to edit.

Miss Makin, you have the movie plan and props list :)

Scene breakdown sheet:

Genre: Drama

Idea:
The movie is about a girl who used to be happy and care free but then she changes so she can be 'cool'. She goes to lots of parties, drinks and does a lot of stupid things that are against what she previously valued. She is obsessed with fashion and gossip and is always on her phone, computer or reading magazines. She is invited to a party. She spends a while choosing clothes to wear and cakes on makeup, so she looks nothing like herself. When she is finished getting ready she looks at herself in the mirror, she has a flashback of before she turned into this person and realises how much she has changed. She washes all her makeup off, puts her pj's back on throws away the invitation, and all her gossip magazines deletes her formspring account and reads a book.

There is no dialogue, just music which relates to the film. I have used;
Acting out by Ashley Tisdale
Remembering Sunday by All Time Low
Are You Alive by Michael Paynter

Characters:
Girl: Gena
Sister: Maddy
Dad: Luis
dad and sister are in the flashback only - this is footage from the first filming session we did.

Locations:
The movie was filmed in a bedroom and in the ensuite attached to it.
The flashback at the beach.

Title: Genesis (meaning rebirth)

Synopsis:
Gena is a young girl who is out of control. She is always out partying and when she's not she's either on her phone, laptop or reading trashy magazines. She is invited to a party and spend ages getting ready. She realises how much she has changed and she decides that she isn't happy with the person she has become. She decides to go back to the old her and be herself.

Genre specific elements

Use of transitions and special effects

In my verion of the movie I have used a few different transitions including:

•fade in
•fade out
•cross dissolve
•overlay

I have also used a few special effects including:
•speed up
•speed down
•contrast and light

CHOICE OF TITLES INCLUDING COLOURS AND FONT TYPE

My tittles are just the scrolling block with basic font, white writing on a black backdrop. The music is very upbeat and perfect for end credits. I chose for the credits to be simple because she has gone back to herself and being who she is and is very calm.

CHOICE OF COLOUR SCHEME AND MUSIC DECISIONS

In the flashbacks everything is bright and happy and glaring as it is a daydream, the music is crazy to show what is going through her mind. When she changes back the music is very deep an meaningful and is about making choices (whether to fly or fall).

ANY CHANGES OR ADDITIONS THAT YOU NEED TO MAKE

The only changes I would make to the film if i were to re-edit are that i would do some diffrerent camera angles and put some more effects on the footage and shorten it a bit.

Movie

well we have had a few dramas with the filming area of creating our short film we have now filmed 3 times two of 1 film and 1 of the final. The first Time it was Brydee and I and when we saw our footage at school we decided it was terrible and way too bumpy to use so in the holidays while brydee was in Melbourne Sarah and I filmed that same film again changing it a bit but it was better. We the got the footage and it was great,we were so excited but the footage was another FAIL, it wasnt compatible with Macs so after a few weeks of waiting for Mr. Andrews to see if he could fix our problem we gave up and Brydee and I came up with a new idea using sarahs idea of being some who the character is not, sarah was away so we made it. That weekend I hired out a school camera so it would work and filmed a new entire film. A whole sunday! it took forwever but it was worth it in the end. I am very happy with my filming and now we are beginning to edit it. I think this id3ea is even better than the last one.

I haven't come up with a title for mine yet but for the credits i think ill still use the waves maybe with some photos of the room that i took but im not sure yet. Soem of the footage with be slowed down and some slightly speeded up the colour scheme is very plain and id like the lyrics of the songs i use to really relate to the film. It shouldnt be too hard to find it, i think there are a few songs around that would be perfect. I think the genre will still be drama oh and i will still use the flashback so not all of the old footage went to waste :)

Now that i have all my footage picked out and have put it in imovie all i have to do is cut a few parts and blend them together. Considering all the drama we have had i am very happy with our progress :)

The Film

I'm pretty satisfied with our filming so far. I think time has been the biggest issue for us. We all have so many activities and things on on weekends and after school that it's so hard to fit it all in but we will finish the rest of the film in the holidays :) We still have plenty to work on until then. I think we have managed the time we've had very effectively we did A LOT of filming in one, short, windy afternoon. If we have time in the holidays I would like to redo the park scene as I have some new ideas for how we could do it and where. Im really excited to see how it will all turn out.

Filming

Difficlties:

* wind
* people in the background eg. kids in the park, people at the beach
* bumpy filming when walking
* shadows
* cars and bikes
* camera falling off the tripod
* low battery

kills, Techniques & Tricks

* adjusting tri-pod to be level
* next time we will use a trolley or something to make the filming more smooth when we are walking/following the girls.

Filming Plan

Day 1:

* beach (flashback) - older sister, younger sister & dad
* park - older sister & younger sister
* beach - older sister & younger sister

Day 2:

* Re shoot - park
* Desk scene
